Blessed Are Those Who Have Regard For The Weak

All of us face difficulties in life, it’s part of the package of life.

Even Jesus said, “in this world, you will have tribulations”(John 16:33). But our troubles in life should not stop us from helping those who are also in trouble, much more it should move us to reach out to them and bring “comfort” with the comfort that we received from God (2 Cor.1:4).

Psalm 41:1 says, “Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;” the “weak” here can be translated as ‘poor, struggling person, physically weak/ handicapped, and even those who have fallen in sin’.

How should we not treat them? We should not …

• Judge them
• Gossip about them
• Show them any form of indifference

But rather we should…

• Pray for them
• Help them
• Love them

By doing so, Psalm 41 gave us God’s promises of…

• Deliverance from all your troubles (1)
• Protection and life (2a)
• Blessings (2b)
• Victory over the desires of your enemies(2c)
• His grace when you are sick(3a)
• Restoration of your health (3b)

But the best of these, when we have godly regard to the weak, we become Christlike and glorify our Father Who is in heaven (Luke 4:18).

May we continue to be vessels of His grace to the “weak” people around us.
