God’s Omniscience….Our Confidence

David was in a season of opposition when he penned Psalm 139. There was a threat from the surrounding kingdoms and a personal opposition from within his kingdom. There were people in his courtyard who spread malice against him and ultimately wanted to dethrone him. His response…worship, His confidence… the omniscience of God, that He knows all things!

Part of his prayer states: 1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me! 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. 3 You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Fear grips our hearts, anxiety robs the calmness of our thoughts & worries bring us down.

This happens because we don’t know what will happen to our lives a week from now or even a day from now. But as we look up & know that He is God Who knows all things & is in control of everything, Who works for His glory & our good & Who also knows that we are not entitled to any explanation why He allows to happen circumstances in our lives because He wanted us just to trust Him, in such truths we rest our confidence to face each day. God is pleased every time we trust Him & “He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”(Hebrews 11:6).

Let us all be like David today, even when we are overwhelmed by this season of the pandemic, may we be more amazed on His omniscience displayed in His providence in our day to day life. David declared,” Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain”(v6). Then he goes on with his psalm,” I praise You because I am fearfully & wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well”(v14). This means in the Hebrew rendition,” Whoever made this, should not be messed with. Whoever made this should be worshipped.” Corrie Ten Boom once said,” Never be afraid to trust your unknown future to The All-Knowing God.”
