Happy Lambs Are Healthy Lambs

Reading:1 Kings 10
I read an article recently about the Lumina Lamb Farm located in New Zealand. They were very known as one of the best supplier, if not the best, of lamb’s meat in the world. Their secrets are the following:
• Lumina lambs are free to run and play, socialize among themselves.
• Lumina lambs are naturally being taken care by their mothers but Lumina staff get involve with the said mothers, checking if they are fed well so as to produce good meat.
• Lumina shepherds keeps their lambs away from any and possible stress. One of them said, “One of the most important aspects of keeping our lambs healthy is to limit their stress. It’s incredibly satisfying. To see them grow and mature. It’s what makes it all worthwhile.”
• Lumina Lamb Farm has a motto: “Happy lambs are healthy lambs.”
One of their shepherds concluded by saying, “Happiness is important. “Not just because stress has a negative effect on the taste of the lamb itself, but also because keeping our animals happy is the right thing to do.”
Such conclusive statement reminds me of what the Queen of Sheba commented as she visits King Solomon, “How happy your mem must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom.”(v8). They were not just excited to hear their king’s wisdom but they were also satisfied!
When Jesus preached 2,000 years ago, people were amazed with Him, showing a vast difference of Jesus and the rest of the rabbis during His time (see Matthew 22:33). The same Jesus who commanded Peter to feed His lamb and to continually do so until the lambs become sheeps (see John 21:15, 17). Now the same Jesus who lives in us! And to the pastors like me, we are undershepherds of the Chief Shepherd called by God to faithfully care for His church by “feeding” them with the unadulterated truths from the scriptures. This is one of the greatest yet humblest tasks that God has given to us… to serve His people for their joy. May we ever raised up healthy lambs that will make them happy lambs.
I remembered you and your family in prayer today.
