“Feed my sheep.” This is a command Jesus has given Peter when He asked Peter if he loves Him.
Along with my fellow churchmates from CCSGM and our brethren from River of Life Church in Rizal, we were taught about the importance of feeding the sheep, and the importance of feeding them properly. Feeding the sheep does not only entail how to feed them but also what to feed them.
Learning from what the Scripture says and from the examples of Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Charles Spurgeon, we were taught that preaching should not be about appealing to the people. Biblical preaching should be a proclamation of who God is. More than simple words that are mashed together to make an appeal to our audience, a Biblical preaching is us bringing God to the people who hear; We, feeding the sheep.
All in all, the Preaching Class has been a humbling experience. The more we study and the more we bare the thought; the more I see that I have much to learn. And as a recommendation, in the event that there would be another Preaching Class, I strongly encourage you to enroll and be a part of it. The class is not just for those interested in becoming a preacher, the class is for everyone who wishes to have a deeper understanding of the word of God.
