Last July 22, 2018, the young people from CCSGM – Firestarters Ministry was given the privilege to share God’s love to the Christian Mission Service Philippines-Fullness of Life for Children (CMSP) Orphanage in Naic, Cavite.
It was Sunday morning when the team was welcomed by the downpour of ‘Bagyong Josie’. No amount of rainfall and storm surge could douse the heart of the Young People from Ministering. This didn’t stop them from accomplishing all the needed preparations for the outreach program. Everyone worked together for the repacking of clothes, food preparations, and program development.
At 2:00 in the afternoon, the team departed from the church and arrived at CMSP orphanage at 3:30 P.M.
Upon arriving at CMSP Orphanage, laughter and smiles filled the room as Bro. Godfree and Sis. Princess embarked the program through energizing the young people with the ‘Up, Down, Smash’ ice breaker game. It was a simple activity and yet the happiness painted on each faces was immeasurable.
Like the rain, everyone was drenched as well with the presence of the Lord after glorifying and acknowledging His faithfulness through singing of worship songs. Subsequently, Elder Emman emphasized the value of the cross through his sermon. He pointed out that the cross is not just a mere symbol but instead, the reason of our salvation. Without Jesus dying on the cross, no man could be saved from the condemnation of sin and sting of eternal death. It was an afternoon of reflection and thanksgiving for Jesus Christ. Soli Deo Gloria!
At the latter part of the program, all of the donated clothes and food were given to the CMSP Youth. All of them became much more ecstatic as they individually opened their bags filled with garments that they could use. Big smiles and inexpressible joy from their faces had warmed the cold afternoon inside the session hall.
The team left the orphanage with joy and love from the Orphanage. It was a challenge going home and there were some stranded volunteers who spent the rest of the night at the sanctuary; they fear not. It is because they know the God whom they’re serving.
“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others,
faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
Visiting an orphanage is definitely a life-changing experience. It is that particular moment when you first see those juvenile smiles and feel the heartfelt hugs genuinely given for you. One can’t express the unexplained joy in the heart from this once in a lifetime opportunity. Truly, giving and serving for God nourishes the soul and as Christians we are called to serve others with love in all forms and in any situations. There’s no good or bad season when everything is done for the Lord.
