Pray Continually by Jeff T. Jo
The bible commanded this:
“pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.(1Thess.5:17-18).”
Paul penned this epistle in a time where there is uncertainty & people were unruly. One of his final exhortations to the believers in Thessalonica is for them to “pray continually”, the Greek rendition states “pray without intermission” meaning that we should not pass each day with prayerless gaps.
Pray continually even though…
* you don’t “feel” like praying
* you don’t feel worthy
* you are hurting or in pain
* you don’t understand the circumstances
* doubts seem to cloud your thoughts
* the situation seems impossible
And why should we pray? “For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”(v18).
Pray continually because its not about…
* …how faithful you are but it’s about how faithful He is (Ps66:19)
* …how worthy you are but it’s about how He shows mercy (Luke18:13-14)
* …how big your faith is but how ‘big’ He is! (Luke17:6)
* … how good you are but how good He is (Matthew7:11).
Knowing that the Lord is faithful to His people & eager to hear our prayers, such truth gives us further reasons to love & worship Him. Regular prayer helps us remember that God is kind to us & it helps us to develop an even deeper love for Him. I never cease to wonder of this marvelous privilege to commune with The Creator-God & to call Him our Father. I remembered you in prayer today.
