Reflections by Ptr. Jeffrey T. Jo
Ricochet is a glancing rebound as of a projectile off a flat surface, usually used when a bullet hits a hard surface and bounced off in a different direction. While I was thinking of this it reminded me of God’s promises of protection over us. Let me share with you these bible verses & the possible situations you are into.
• God will give you wisdom & discernment to keep you from wrong choices in life- Proverbs 4:6- Do not forsake wisdom & she will protect you; love her & she will watch over you.
• God will be your refuge, choose to worship Him rather than succumb yourself in fear- Psalm 5:11- But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
• God will be there to act as you call upon Him in the days of trouble- Psalm 20:1-May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you” ; 34:19-“The righteous person may have many troubles but the Lord delivers him from them all” ; 46:1- “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”
• God will keep you from people who wishes your downfall- Psalm 140:4- “Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked; protect me from the violent who devise ways to trip my feet.; 2 Samuel 22:3-4- “my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield & the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my savior—from violent people you save me. I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise & have been saved from my enemies.”
These are just a few verses from the many promises of the scriptures about God “ricocheting” all evil plans against us, whether human or divine in nature. Isaiah 54:17 declared, “no weapon forged against you will prevail and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord & this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.
Where then is our confidence? On GOD’S FAITHFULNESS! 2 Thessalonians 3:3, “But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.”
