The Word of God… The Work of God

In Matthew 13, Jesus taught in parables a large crowd beside the lake and “the disciples came to Him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” He replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you but not to them. This is why I speak to them in parables: Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. But blessed are your eyes because they see and your ears because they hear.”(verses10-11,13,16)

Knowing God’s word is God’s doing. Unless God removes (regeneration) our spiritual blindness caused by sin (Zephaniah 1:17), by Satan (2 Corinthians 4:3-4), by our pride and bitterness (1 Corinthians 2:14,1 John 2:11), we will never be drawn to the word and find delight in it. That’s why in our passage Jesus made it clear that the unregenerate will not “see”, “hear” or even “understand” because God and God alone can bring light(illumination) to our darkness(depravity) for He is The Light of Life (John 8:12). Someone said that “the eyes are useless when the mind is blind.”

Paul was an expert of the Law and the scriptures, very zealous with his religion, Judaism, and the best student of Gamaliel(Galatians 1:13-14, Acts 22:3) and yet he saw The Light and understood everything only when Jesus confronted him on the road to Damascus(Acts 9:1-19). After which Paul had a hunger knowing Christ, preaching Christ and living for Christ. He even declared, “I have been crucified with Christ, it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”(Galatians 2:20).

Blaise Pascal once said, ““In faith there is enough light for those who want to believe and enough shadows to blind those who don’t.”
Read His word and know The Light of life today.

I remembered you in prayer today.
