When Grace Abounds

Reflections by: Ptr. Jeffrey T. Jo
It was almost ‘the dark hour’ of Jesus. Jesus was preparing the disciples of His fate designed by The Father Himself for the salvation of man. Jesus spoke of the one who will betray Him & Peter proudly declared he is willing to follow Him to prison or even to death. Jesus declared, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail & when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”(Luke22:31-31).Three things i want to share with you here.

First, God’s grace abounds in every attack of Satan in our lives. As he asked permission from God to ‘hurt’ Job in the old testament, the same thing in this new testament event. As God allows the enemy’s attack in our lives, God has confidence on His grace that He bestowed upon us.

Secondly, God’s grace abounds when we sin. Jesus knew that Peter will sin but He prayed that his faith will not fail & it did not! Hebrews4:14-15, “Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven,Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.” The same grace that teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness & worldly passions & to live self-controlled, upright & godly lives in this present age (Titus 2:12).

Lastly, God’s grace abounds to restore your strength & be useful again for others. Our failures & frailties can’t stop His grace in fulfilling His design in our life for He is sovereign.

God’s ‘confidence’ is in His faithfulness for He will never be unfaithful to Himself. We bow down in humility & rejoicingly submit to this truth. God’s grace is indeed ‘how sweet the sound’!

I remembered you in prayer today.
